At Workplace Investigative Services, we work with people. We are ground-level independent investigative specialists who find facts, provide analysis, and offer solutions to employee incidents or issues. We provide both Proactive and Reactive investigative services to organizations and companies, both large and small.
Our cases typically are related to workplace harassment, retaliation, theft, bullying, privacy, discrimination, or personality conflicts. We perform independent third-party investigations, analyses, and reports.
Based out of Oregon, we currently are a two-person core team and the rendering to the right is not accurate (on purpose) as we occasionally work covertly on-site as "analysts". Scott (on left) is a licensed and bonded Private Investigator and has decades of varietal experience in industrial, commercial, food-processing, high-technology manufacturing, general administration, warehousing/distribution, and government site applications. He also has hundreds of hours of experience in criminal legal investigations. Becky (on right) is a Licensed Registered Nurse with deep experience in healthcare settings and site staff management. She has a Master's Degree in Nursing Management and many years of top-to-bottom staff leadership experience in a variety of healthcare applications. Both of us have hired, fired, and coached many employees over our decades of experience...oh the stories we could tell.
So far, we have not found a workplace environment where we are not comfortable working with staff and management to seek out facts and create solutions.
We work directly with attorneys, HR teams, and management/owners. During field investigations, we work directly with employees and other contacts, both on and off site. We have a "third eye" approach where we bring a unique, clean-slate perspective to every case which often helps us to shake the facts loose and clarify the path.
We are empathetic and caring in our communications and actions with staff, but we always have our eye on the root causes of the incident, as well as the best solutions for the organization (and hopefully the employees).
Too often, what may seem like normal events that adults can or should handle maturely and professionally between themselves will explode and quickly involve others in the organization. There then can become times with Human Resources needs an independent and confidential evaluation of an internal situation. We can perform different levels of investigations, from remote level to providing an on-site staff process analyst. Typical case types are related to incidents of workplace harassment, retaliation, theft, bullying, privacy, discrimination, or personality conflicts which may be fresh or could have been festering for months or even years (acute personnel issues).
For many reasons, an independent investigation, analysis, and report will be more effective at clarifying the path forward. There are many legitimate legal and/or ethical reasons for internal roadblocks that drive issues toward the need for an outside third-party review. From the very small company to the super big, staff challenges can be daunting; and just when you think things are "under control", that is when the playground explodes. In your organization, gangs and bullies can rise up within days or hours. We have all seen it, from the kingdom builders to the queen bees, the inside of your organization can end up looking like a scene from a bad dystopian movie or stories about ancient Roman leaders gone awry. Our mission is to get you through those issues and help move your company back to a healthy work environment.
What if it is a Management Level Issue?
Well. We are paid by your organization, but we are an independent firm and will provide an independent assessment of your situation. If you have a "bad boss" issue, we will let you know honestly and directly what your problems and challenges are...right on up to the top. You see, having managers, VP's, or Presidents who lack certain skills (functionally, emotionally, or morally), we will make sure to point out their lack of clothing in those areas (re the Emperor has no clothes). If this scares anybody, then we are not the firm to contract. Sometimes an organization or a board may contract us to investigate one of their own. This happens, and again we will provide an honest fact-based investigation and thorough assessment.
Once you know the FACTS about what is actually happening in your company (moving past the he said/she said emotions, the various perspectives, and the triggered egos), that is where you can begin to move forward. We will provide you with the facts, and an analysis and a summary report that will offer you some solution(s). Yes, we are not just about facts as we also want to know the sources of the incident and the methods by which you can fix this now and prevent it in the future!
Successful Companies Have Fewer Conflicts.
In reality, they ARE successful because they have fewer conflicts. Employee conflict negatively affects productivity, staff retention and recruitment, profitability, and every measurable level of success in an organization. Conflicts also can give your organization a bad reputation. Please note this: Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are annually lost by US companies due to internal employee conflict...that is real. Think about this. Negative office chat, coffee room talk, and hallway banter cost each company between 2.1 to 2.8 hours per employee per week on average. As a leader, you MUST be creative, assertive, and proactive to reduce conflict in your organization.

We specialize in private investigation, helping you to help yourself.
Every situation and organization is different. But, there are two different types of services that we provide; either Reactive (to work on an immediate need or incident) or Proactive (to provide a service or program that is implemented now that can reduce conflict into the future).
REACTIVE Services:
These would be services that have their foundation in solid investigation. Your organization can choose whether they would like remote or onsite investigation. You also can choose how involved you may want us to be in analysis, solution-finding, mediation, or other staff-forward conflict management activities. We can provide single incident services, or we can provide monthly or quarterly site visits with program check-ins with your management teams and staff to monitor your conflict management efforts.
PROACTIVE Services:
These services can be as simple as customized Pre-Employment Background Checks, or as comprehensive as our Trust Gap Program which provides third-party online site management for a confidential staff issues and information screening program. Employees are free to report their thoughts, ideas, complaints, or issues in a safe, secure, and independent location...and can share their name or not. This service will actually promote trust between staff and the organization (the organization promotes and pays for it) and will aid in your conflict management efforts.
In reality, not that much. When you apply a cost that your organization incurs due to employee conflict and compare to what our services may be, you will smile. Each situation and organization is different with various needs. From the simple to the complex, we will quote you based on your requirements. Just as a note, we charge very reasonably. If you run our quote past your attorney, you will find a favorable response.
Our goal is not to get rich quick. Our goal is to greatly reduce the impact of staff conflict on companies and organizations so that they can use those financial resources in a much more profitable and healthy way.
